John L. Himes, age 70 of Plymouth, Indiana passed away Thursday, July 14, 2016 at home with his family by his side.
John was born the son of Virgil L. and Beverly J. (Green) Himes in Warsaw, Indiana on August 12, 1945. John was retired from the City of Plymouth where he worked for the Street department for many years. On July 18, 1964 John married the former Cheryl M. Bowen in a ceremony in Plymouth, Indiana.
John is survived by his loving wife of 51 years, Cheryl; their 4 sons, John, Jr. and Diane Himes, Richard Himes, Michael T. Himes and Jim and Traci Klingerman; his sister, Barbara and Clyde Brown of Plymouth, Indiana; and his brother, Jim Himes of Culver; John was further blessed with 9 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren; also surviving are their extended Caldwell Lake camping family. John is preceded in passing by his parents, his son, Steven, and his grandson, Troy.
The Van Gilder Funeral Home is honored to be caring for the Himes family. A memorial service will be held at the Van Gilder Funeral Home, 300 West Madison Street Plymouth, Indiana 46563 on Wednesday, July 20, 2016 at 1:00 p.m. with
James Duncan officiating.
A time of visiting with the Himes family will be held at the Van Gilder Funeral Home on Wednesday, July 20, 2016 from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
The Himes family requests memorial contributions in honor of John be given to the Marshall County Boys and Girls Club, 314 Jefferson Street Plymouth, Indiana 46563
