Funeral services for Joyce Faye Peel, 87, of Caldwell are set for 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, November 18, 2015 at Strickland Funeral Home in Caldwell. Interment will follow at Masonic Cemetery in Caldwell. A visitation will be held from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m., Tuesday, November 17, 2015 also at Strickland Funeral Home. Joyce went to heaven on Saturday night, November 14, 2015 quietly in her sleep.
Joyce was born February 16, 1928 to Melvin Jasper Dominey and Mettie Belle (Simpkins) Dominey in Sagerton, Texas. The first of seven children, she married George Peel, Jr., on September 3, 1947 in Pampa, Texas. They moved to Caldwell in January 1966 and worked at the Dairy Queen, where she retired after 25 years.
Joyce suffered with Alzheimers for many years. She was a wonderful caring mother and always ready to help anyone in need. She was a member of the Cooks Point Methodist Church.
Joyce is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Danny and Jennifer Peel of Caldwell; daughters and son-in-law, Pam Kristof of Caldwell, Carolyn and Robert Strickland of Caldwell, Laquita Baasen of Houston; sisters and brother-in-law, Jan Pitchford of Odessa, Judy and Richard Courtney of Caldwell; sister-in-law, Gayla Dominey of Odessa; grandchildren, Allen Kristof and wife Sherry, Darrell Kristof, Rhonda Lirette, Sherry Hoffman, Lucas Peel, Scott Strickland and wife Cathy; great grandchildren; Kyle Kristof, Kevin Scott, Bret Lirette, Autumn Strickland, Justin and Josh Ferguson; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; son, Lonnie Morton; daughter, Jonine; brothers, Tuddy, Eugene, and Jimmy Dominey; sister, Billie Dominey Bryan; grandson, Kevin Baasen; and sons-in-law, Dennis Hoffman, Alton Baasen, and Edward Kristof.
