A Funeral Mass for James Alan Touchstone, 67, of Caldwell is set for 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, August 27, 2014 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Caldwell. Interment will follow at Masonic Cemetery in Caldwell. A visitation and Rosary will be held at Strickland Funeral Home in Caldwell from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., Tuesday, August 26, 2014 with the rosary being read at 7:00 p.m. Mr. Touchstone passed away on August 22, 2014 at his home in Caldwell.
James was born July 19, 1947 to James Merrell Touchstone and Blanche (Kazmir) Touchstone in Bryan, Texas. James served his country in Vietnam, where he was awarded the Bronze Star and a Purple Heart. He married Leah on February 22, 2003.
James was a member of the Caldwell VFW, the Knights of Columbus, the Caldwell American Legion, and St. Mary's Catholic Church. James was employed at Shell Oil in Deer Park for over 34 years as a calibration specialist. He enjoyed hunting and fishing and kept everyone around him smiling and laughing with his great sense of humor. James loved spending time with his family; especially his grandchildren and they loved their "Pa-paw". He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
James is survived by his wife, Leah Touchstone of Caldwell; mother, Blanche Touchstone; son, James W. McEvers of Spring Branch, Texas; daughters and sons-in-law, Ashley and Michael Hutchison of Katy, Texas, Maegan and Bryan McClellan of Pearland, Texas, Kristina and Ray Moore of Pasadena, Texas; aunt, Myrtle Calvin; brothers-in-law, Wilford Nelson of Caldwell, Texas, Joe Goode of Albuquerque, New Mexico; grandchildren, Travis, Gavin, Maya, Gabriel, Celeste, Leah, Davyn, Maesyn; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father James M. Touchstone, and sister, Barbara Nelson.
Arrangements are under the care and direction of Strickland Funeral Home of Caldwell.
