Funeral services for Viola Harlien are set for10:00 a.m., Friday, August 30, 2013 at Strickland Funeral Home in Caldwell, with Brother Harvey Abke officiating. Interment will follow at Masonic Cemetery. A visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m., Thursday, August 29, also at Strickland Funeral Home. Mrs. Harlien passed from this world August 27th, 2013 at St. Joseph Regional Health Center in Bryan, Texas.
Viola was born March 27, 1921 to Jimmy H. Murphy and OmaBelle (Duncan) Murphy, in Edge, Texas.
Viola was a faithful member of the church and was always giving of her time. She was always cooking up something good to take to those in need. Viola enjoyed quilting and made many quilts for her children and grandchildren. She also loved the outdoors and enjoyed spending time in her yard.
Viola was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Cecil Harlien; and one son, Jim Ed Davis.
Survivors include: son and daughter-in-law, Murphy and Bonnie Davis of Wichita Falls; daughters and son-in-law; Pat and Tommy Novosad of Caldwell, Reba Sue Davis of Arkansas; daughter-in-law, Jan Davis of Caldwell; brother, Raymond Murphy of Bryan; sisters and brothers-in-law, Ella and Jr. Thomas of Bryan, Mattie Pearl Gerke of Bryan, Billie and Gordon Walcott of Austin; 9 grandchildren, and 14 great grandchildren.
