Dennis Devon Miller 92 of Sugarcreek died Sunday, February 10, 2013 at Walnut Hills Nursing home in Walnut Creek. He was born February 16, 1920 in Berlin to the late Rudy and Jenny (Troyer) Miller. Dennis spent the years, 1941 to 1945 in Ohio, Virginia, and Montana in Civilian Public Service. He was a smoke jumper in Montana and Idaho. He was employed by the Mullet Coal Company for 6 years and in 1956 Dennis began a career as a self-employed Artificial Inseminator of cattle. He enjoyed working with the farmers and their cattle for 35 years. He was a member of Grace Mennonite Church at Berlin and was a sports fan who loved basketball as well as baseball and football. Having once owned an Indian Motorcycle, he also enjoyed the races. Camping with his family was very much enjoyed and Canada was a favorite destination. Dennis and Mary made many trips to Branson, MO where they enjoyed the country music and a once in a lifetime trip driving to Alaska was very special to him. He is survived by wife the former Mary Grace Conkle whom he married October 13, 1946 and was by his side for 66 years. his children Cathy Lynn (Frank) Smith of Delta, Colorado, Errol Stanley (Kathy) Miller of Jeromesville, OH and Jolene Dee (Denny) Oxender of Bluffton, grandchildren Kendra (Jim) Huber, Kyle (Dana) Smith, Kalina (Isiah) Schloneger, Tori (Myles) Bower and Luke Miller Oxender and brother Stanley E. Miller of Sarasota, Florida. In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by his sisters Helen L. Miller and Maxine l. Brown. Services will be held on Thursday, February 14, 2013 at 10:00 AM at Grace Mennonite Church in Berlin with Pastors Larry Kaufman and Bob Miller officiating. Burial will be in Union Hill Cemetery at Sugarcreek. Friends may call on Wednesday 4-7 PM at Smith-Varns Funeral Home at Sugarcreek.
