ALEXANDRIA, IN- R. Marlene (Beane) Street, 78, Alexandria passed away on Friday, March 17, 2017 in her residence following a courageous battle with cancer

Marlene was born on January 13, 1939 in Alexandria to Lawrence and Agnes (Garner) Beane and attended Alexandria schools while living here all of her lifetime. She has worked as an aide in home health care for more than 40 years. Marlene's loving patience went above and beyond the basic needs of her patients. She was a member of the First Christian Church of Alexandria where she served faithfully as a deaconess. Marlene volunteered for many church activities and helped prepare monthly newsletters and weekly Sunday worship bulletins along with her husband Jack. Jack and Marlene preferred serving their Lord and His church together and quietly in the background. She enjoyed working in their vegetable and flower gardens and loved to share their produce with others. She passed the winter hours away by working jig-saw puzzles. Marlene was known for her skill in knitting and made slippers for all of her family. She and Jack donated generously to medical research and many other charities.
