Biography: She was a graduate of Alexandria High School-Class of 1944. She received her Bachelor of Science degree in Education in 1965 from Ball State Teacher's College and her Masters of Arts in Education in 1974 from Ball State University. She taught at Park Elementary School in Fairmount and retired in 1990 after 25 years. She was a lifetime member of Our Blessed Savior Lutheran Church of Alexandria where she had taught Sunday School and Vacation Bible School for several years. Anna Mae had been a Brownie Troop leader at Orestes School. She was a past president of the Orestes PTA. She was a member of the Profit & Pleasure Home Ec Club of Alexandria and the Pleasant Home Ec Club in Marion, Indiana. Anna Mae was a member of the Indiana State Teacher's Association and was a volunteer reader at the Marion Public Library. Anna Mae was devoted to family, both in her upbringing and the way she and Chet loved each other, their kids and grandkids. "There was always room for one more at the Ellis table."

Visitation: Friends may call at the Owens Funeral Home, 412 North Harrison Street in Alexandria from 4 pm to 8 pm on Wednesday or at the church after 9 am on Thursday prior to the services.
