Sebastiano Papa Jr. 81, lifelong resident of Belleville, passed away on Friday June 2nd, 2017 after a brief illness.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the funeral from the O'Boyle Funeral Home, 309 Broad St. Bloomfield on Tuesday at 10:30 AM. The funeral mass will be offered at St. Anthony's Roman Catholic Church in Belleville at 11:30 AM. Interment Glendale Cemetery. Visitation will be on Monday from 4-8 PM.
Sebastiano was the son of the late Sebastiano Papa Sr. and Pasqualina (Renna) Papa; brother of Jo Ann DiGabriele and the late Teresa Fata; beloved Uncle of Pat Fata, Connie Gennamore, Jim DiGabriele, JoAnn Kasier; and godfather of Deanna DaSilva. He is also survived by many great and great-great nieces and nephews.
Sebastiano known as "Sammy" to his friends and "Junior" to his family started his career as a stock broker on wall street. After several decades on wall street Mr. Papa took a position with the Essex County Planning Department which tied nicely in with his position on the Belleville Planning Board where he served as Chairman for 20 years. He also was a self made business man who owned several upscale salons.
At Christmas time he was well known for the family famous Struffolis. Sammy had a zest for life along with an impeccable sense of humor. He was the life of the party and a life long MET fan.
