Myra Ann Thomas

MYRA THOMAS, (76), of Flint graduated to her heavenly home on July 3, 2017 at her home after a lengthy battle with cancer.

Myra was born to Donald and Areatha Hickmott of Oxford, MI on April 6, 1941. She attended North Oxford school (a one-room school) through 8th grade, then moved on to graduation from Oxford High School. From there she went on to become a Registered Nurse, graduating from the Hurley Hospital Nursing School in 1962. She worked for Hurley Hospital for 28 years—retiring in 1991. She continued her working career on a part time basis at the Deaf School in Flint and a variety of different places all continue to relate back to her love of nursing and caring for people. She was deeply involved in her church and enjoyed having people in her home—including a special group of Hurley retirees—the Hurley Girls.

Myra is survived by her son Mark Thomas of Kenosha, WI, her brothers Don (Jacque) Hickmott of Orion, MI and Dennis Hickmott of Almont, MI. Myra is the beloved Aunt to Jeff (Keri) Hickmott of Ortonville, MI, Brian (Laurie) Hickmott of Dryden, MI, Tina (Marc) Stillinger of Almont, MI, Kristi (Chad) Boarman of Franklin, MI, and Lori Glassford of Almont, MI. She is also a Great Aunt of 17 nieces and nephews. She will be missed by all of her family and her many friends. Myra was preceded in death by her parents, Donald (1980) and Areatha (1977) Hickmott.

Myra particularly wanted to extend a special thank you to her dear friends Kevin Stiff, Pam Ferrell and Carol Gray for their care and compassion.

In lieu of flowers it is requested that memorial contributions may be made to Heart to Heart Hospice (2029 S. Elms Rd., Bldg. B, Ste. A, Swartz Creek, MI. 48473) or West Flint Nazarene Church.

Myra's family will be having a Memorial Service on Saturday July 8, 2017 at West Flint Nazarene Church 2254 S. Dye Rd. Flint, MI 48532. Visitation is at 10 and the service at 11 a.m.. Cremation services have been entrusted to Muir Brothers Funeral Home Lapeer. Condolences may be placed at www.MuirBrothersLapeer.com
