Robert Alan Kinney, age 60, of Lapeer, formerly of Clarkston, died Tuesday June 27, 2017. Bob was born March 9, 1957 in Pontiac, to Herbert and Imogene (Trammel) Kinney. He married the love of his life, Kim Fredericks, on March 26, 1977 at Dixie Baptist Church in Holly. Mr. Kinney retired in 2000 from the General Motors Orion Plant. After retiring, he worked as a chef at the Sanctuary of Maple Vista in Imlay City, where he made many dear friends. Bob enjoyed gardening, but his passion really was cooking and spending time with friends and family, his family had a long history in restaurant hospitality. His father managed Ted's Restaurant on Woodward Avenue for over 30 years, and Bob worked there many years. Time with family meant everything to Mr. Kinney, his children and grandchildren were his pride and joy.
Bob is survived by his dear wife: Kim Kinney of Lapeer; children: Trisha (Kristin Kabelman) Kinney of Lapeer and Ryan (Kandis) Kinney of Lapeer; grandchildren: Rylee Kinney of Lapeer and Summer Kinney of Lapeer; mother: Imogene Kinney of White Lake; and siblings; Bill (Shirley) Kinney of Lapeer and Sherry Kinney of Holly. He was preceded in death by his father: Herbert Kinney; and siblings: Arthur Kinney, Betty Kinney, Sandy Creamer and LeRoy Kinney.
A celebration of life will be held 2-5PM Sunday, July 2, 2017, at the home of Steven and Kerry Verzyl, 4130 Creeksedge Drive, Metamora, MI. Memorial contributions may be made to the family. Condolences and memories may be shared at www.MuirBrothersLapeer.com.
