OWEN H. POPE died peacefully on December 11, 2016 at 78 years old. Owen was originally from Lapeer. He moved to The Villages, FL, in 1998, where he enjoyed his retirement years.
He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Margaret "Peggy" J. Pope of The Villages; and two children, daughter Julie Pope of Baltimore, MD, and son Todd (Beth) Pope of The Villages, FL; two brothers, James (Shirley) Pope of Lapeer and Keith (Marguerite) Pope of Lapeer. He was a loving grandfather to three grandchildren, Megan (Carl) Suedhoff of Fredericksburg, VA, Kelley Pope of Lady Lake, FL, and Spencer Pope of The Villages; and three great-grandchildren, Evan, Carolyn and Kenlee Suedhoff; several nieces and nephews.
Owen received an Industrial Design Degree from Michigan State University and was a lifelong Spartan Fan! He was V.P. of manufacturing for Vesley Corporation and also V.P. of Voplex in Lapeer. He enjoyed spending his summers at his cottage in Port Austin. His favorite hobbies were fishing, boating and playing golf. Owen lived his life to the fullest and will be sadly missed by his family and friends!
A Celebration of Life Service in Owen's honor will be held 11:00AM Saturday, July 29, 2017 at the Lapeer Country Club, 3786 Hunt Road, Lapeer, Michigan 48446. A luncheon will immediately follow the service.
