Robert John Newman, 54, of Lapeer, died Friday, June 9, 2017.
Rob was born September 15, 1962 in Flint to Robert and Judith (Fenner) Newman. He married Becky Gentilly on April 30, 1988 at the First Presbyterian Church in Lapeer. Rob was a gifted chef – he loved cooking particularly for his friends and family. Rob LOVED his rock & roll (most of all Metallica)!! Music was so important to Rob – he helped foster this love throughout his group of friends and his daughters. Above all, Rob loved his family.
Rob is survived by his wife, Becky Newman; daughters: Jennifer (Mark) Heit of Roscommon and Emily Newman of Lapeer; granddaughter, Michaela Heit; parents, Robert & Judy Newman of Grand Blanc; four siblings: Laura (Gerry) Robb of Clarkston, Chris (Tanja) Newman of Westchester, PA, Andrea (David) Blakemore of Grand Blanc and Jason (Heather) Newman of Flint; and his beloved cat "Betty". Rob is also survived by several nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews. Rob was preceded in death by his grandparents.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00AM Wednesday, June 14, 2017 at Muir Brothers Funeral Home, Lapeer. Rob's family will receive friends from 10:00AM Wednesday morning until the time of the service. Pastor Drew Jolly will officiate. Memorial contributions may be made to the Family or the Marguerite DeAngeli Library in Lapeer.
