June Carolyn Smith, 93, a lifetime resident of Lapeer, died Thursday, March 16, 2017.
June was born June 6, 1923 in Lapeer to Harry and Nina (Smith) Weston. She graduated from Lapeer High School, class of 1941. June married Richard Dale Smith on April 6, 1943 in San Francisco, California. Through the years June worked as both a secretary and bookkeeper for the City of Lapeer and then Knollwood Clinic for Dr. James Powers. Above all, June was a family person – very proud of her sons and her entire family.
June is survived by her three sons: Thomas (Sue) Smith of Lapeer, Patrick (Karole) Smith of Midland and Daniel (Phyllis) Smith of Vermontville; seven grandchildren: Jennifer, Ashley, Lori, Joshua, Benjamin, Nathanael and Nicholas; ten great grandchildren: Regan, Parker, Avery, Zuzana, Jovana, Francesca, Luke, Lucy, Rebekah and Weston; sisters: Shirley Crawford of Imlay City, Thelma Rowden of Lapeer and Billie (Joe) Krakker of Madison Heights. June is also survived by many, many nieces and nephews and extended family. She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard Smith (d, 1994); son Michael Smith; siblings: Helen Stone, Harriet Weston, Carl Weston and Joan Roberts; and her parents.
Visitation will be from 5-8PM Friday, March 17, 2017 at Muir Brothers Funeral Home, Lapeer. June's funeral service will be 11:00AM Saturday, March 18, 2017 at Calvary Bible Church in Lapeer. Pastor Jeremy Lazzell will officiate. Burial will immediately follow at Stiles Cemetery, Lapeer.
