Gwendolyn Elizabeth Clemens, age 84, of Lapeer, died Friday, August 26, 2016.
Gwen was born January 16, 1932 in Lapeer, Michigan to Peter and Helen (Bacon) Griffith. She graduated from Lapeer High School, class of 1950. She married Vern Ray Clemens on July 20, 1950 at the Liberty Street Gospel Church, their marriage was officiated by the Rev. Frank Hemingway. Gwen worked in Resident Care at Oakdale Center in Lapeer and at McCrory's Dime Store in Downtown Lapeer. She enjoyed crocheting, attending Albrecht's Auctions, online auctions and time spent with family. Mrs. Clemens especially loved all "Little People", children and babies were precious to her. She was the "World's Greatest Grandmother!".
Gwen is survived by six children: Ray (Janet) Clemens of Lapeer, Dave (Carol) Clemens of North Branch, Ethel (Dan) Korman of Lupton, Tom (Laurie) Clemens of Lapeer, Helen (Ed) Gassel of Lapeer and Roger (Debbie) Clemens of Lapeer; fourteen grandchildren; twenty-seven great grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; siblings: Pat (Helen) Griffith of Lapeer and Betty Verbeke of Lapeer; brother-in-law: Cecil Clemens of Lapeer; and many many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband: Vern Clemens; granddaughter: Danyale Christine Clemens; six siblings: Howard, Richard, Otho "Dude", Neta, Ila and Marie; and her parents.
Visitation will be Noon-2:00PM and4-8 PM Monday, August 29, 2016 at Muir Brothers Funeral Home, Lapeer. Gwen's funeral will be 2:00P.M. Tuesday, August 30, 2016 at Muir Brothers, Pastor Bruce Lawton officiating. Burial will be in Stiles Cemetery, Lapeer.
