Sue Adelaide Hodge, age 81, lifetime Lapeer resident, died Thursday, April 7, 2016 at Whispering Pines in Elba Township. Sue was born September 29, 1934 in Lapeer, to Martin and Gwendoline (Barnes) Williams. She married Alfred Eli Hodge on October 11, 1952 in Lapeer. Mrs. Hodge received a teaching degree and was a substitute teacher many years, in the Lapeer Community Schools. Sue retired from Oakdale Center, where she was an assistant Occupational Therapist. She was a gifted artist; painting wonderful pictures, making beautiful quilts, and writing poetry. Sue enjoyed working in her garden, working in the yard, going to the cabin in Grayling, but above all else spending time with family. Mrs. Hodge loved her family dearly, she was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She will be remembered for her patience, hard work, love and always putting others needs before her own.
Sue is survived by her children: Cindy (Craig) Baker of Otter Lake, Craig (Lori) Hodge of Lapeer, Anne (Ron) Smith of Lapeer; grandchildren: Renee (Jamie Crowley) Baker, Ryan Baker, Melissa (Brad Marion) Hodge, Ben (Carolyn ) Hodge, Matt (Anne Marie) Smith, Brad Smith; great-grandchildren: Kylie and Brody Baker, Adalyn, Kelci Smith, and Chase Hodge. Mrs. Hodge was preceded in death by her loving husband: Alfred in 2013; parents: Martin and Gwendoline Williams; brother: Dallas Williams and sister: Nadine Utter.
Visitation will be held 4-8PM Sunday April 10, 2016 at Muir Brothers Funeral Home in Lapeer. Sue's funeral service will be 11:00AM Monday, April 11, 2016 at the funeral home, Rev. Jeremy Lazzell will officiate. Cremation will follow the funeral service.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to Whispering Pines staff, for all of their great care and kindness they showed Mrs. Hodge.
