Jeremy Daniel-Brian Machiela, age 35, of Columbiaville, died suddenly Wednesday, April 1, 2015. Jeremy was born May 24, 1979 in Lapeer to Gail Machiela. He attended Lapeer East High School and received two Associate Degrees. Mr. Machiela went on to proudly serve his country in the U.S. Army, serving 2 tours in Kuwait and Iraq. He was in the 101st Airborne "The Balls of the Eagle" and the National Guard Alpha 1/119th Field Artillery (out of Port Huron). Jeremy was just a special person! He was always thinking of others and would do anything for anybody. Jeremy was wonderful with children, they all loved him.
Jeremy is survived by his mother: Gail Machiela of Lapeer; significant other: Jennifer Shelton of Columbiaville; step-children: Emily and Eric; brother: Steve (Katie) Machiela of Attica; sister: Jessica (Kyle) Elliott of Lapeer; nieces and nephews: Frederick "Kyler" Wiechert, Morgan Wiechert, Paxton Elliott, Madisyn Elliott, Rachelle Evans, Alyssa Evans and Timothy Stoneburgh; aunt: Christine Powers of Attica; uncles: Mike Machiela of Brown City, Daniel (Anita) Machiela of Texas and Brian (Lisa) Machiela of North Branch; many cousins and other dear friends. He was preceded in death by his grandparents: Harvey and Patricia Machiela.
Visitation will be 4-8 PM Monday, April 6, 2015 at Muir Brothers Funeral Home in Lapeer. Jeremy's funeral service will be 10:00AM Tuesday, April 7, 2015 at the funeral home. Burial will be immediately following the service at Great Lakes National Cemetery in Holly at 11:30 AM on Tuesday, April 7, 2015...with full military honors.
