Raymond Richard Shivers, 74, of Dryden (formerly of New Baltimore & Detroit), died Thursday, December 11, 2014.
Raymond was born July 12, 1940 in Detroit to parents Raymond & Marie (Corteville) Shivers. He graduated from Pershing High School, class of 1958. Ray was an electrician at Ford Motor Company, retiring in 2007 after 31 years of service. He loved nature and spending time outdoors. Above all, Ray was a devoted family man.
Ray is survived by his wife, Cathy Shivers; two children: Raymond Shivers of Dryden and Cindi Kelly of Lapeer; grandson, Sean Kelly; siblings: Judith Hasse of Leonard and Lawrence (Rosemary) Shivers of Algonac; sister-in-law, Mary Taboas of Kokomo, IN. Ray is also survived by many nieces, nephews and cousins. Raymond was preceded in death by his brother-in-law, Raymond Hasse; brother-in-law, Joseph Taboas and his parents.
Memorial contributions may be made to Seven Ponds Nature Center or the Belgian Publishing/Gazette van Detroit.
Visitation will be from 2-8PM Sunday, December 14, 2014 at Muir Brothers Funeral Home, Lapeer. The Rosary will be prayed Sunday evening at 7PM. Raymond's funeral Mass will be 11:00AM Monday, December 15, 2014 at St. Cornelius Catholic Church in Dryden, Father Doc Ortman officiating.
