NEW HARTFORD – PROVENZANO – James Provenzano, Jr., 76, passed away peacefully at his home on Saturday, April 2, 2016 with his devoted wife by his side, surrounded by family. He was the loving husband of his high school sweetheart, Norma Jean (Golmic) Provenzano for 54 years. Born May 2, 1939 in North Braddock , PA ; the son of the late James Provenzano, and Maria (Patella) Provenzano. James achieved his Bachelor's Degree at The University of Pittsburgh in Electrical Engineering and his Masters Degree in both Electrical Engineering and Business Management at Rennsselaer Polytechnic Institute. He was a certified Professional Engineer working at various divisions of United Technologies, including Hamilton Standard, Building Systems, Carrier, OTIS and then as an Independent Consultant at Quality Consulting Services. At retirement, he and his co-workers formed the ROMEO group, "Retired Old Men Eating Out." He was an accomplished trumpet player and enjoyed playing music with his children. He performed with various musical organizations including the Pitt marching band, local jazz bands, community bands in both Connecticut and California, and several theatrical groups. He was a devout parishioner at the Immaculate Conception Church. He had a wonderful sense of humor, was intelligent enough to be a member of Mensa, and enjoyed time out on his porch having a martini and cigar while praying the rosary. He will be deeply missed by all those who knew him. In addition to his wife, he is survived by three daughters, Susan Marie Carnegie and husband Paul of CA, Tisha Dodge and husband Dave of MA and Pam Adams of VA; a brother, Felix "Phil" Provenzano of PA; grandchildren, Paul Carnegie, Jr., James Carnegie, Amanda Hubbard, Chris Adams, Tori Adams, Derek Dodge and Jessica Dodge; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by a son-in-law, Dr. Mike Adams; a sister, Anna Marie Catone; a brother, Luke "Anthony" Provenzano; and a godson, Jimmy Provenzano. Friends may call on Wednesday, April 6, 2016 at Montano-Shea Funeral Home, 5 Steele Road , New Hartford from 5 – 7 PM. A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Thursday, April 7, 2016 at Immaculate Conception Church, New Hartford at 11 AM. Graveside services will be held at All Saints Cemetery in Pittsburgh , PA at a time to be announced.
