Life is but a few moments…to be, to invent, to express, to mold, to love, and to pass on. And so on this day April 20, 1964 there came into being the fifth child of Ira Douglas Taylor, Sr. and Billie Grace Goodman-Taylor in Austin, Texas. He was to experience joy, endure sorrow, to love, the courage to explore, and maintain a strong will to live and love life.

He attended public schools and was a graduate of L.C. Anderson High School in Austin, TX. He professed a hope in Christ at an early age at the Nineteenth Baptist Church under the leadership of the late Rev. M. C. Arnold.

Mark was blessed with the knowledge and skills of creating, carpentry, electrician and designing. He could take a simple piece of wood, etc. and turn it in to a “masterpiece”. He was lover of fancy cars and had the capability to repair them.

His health began failing in 2001 and even from his motor chair he was constantly giving orders, requesting and planning special events. One in particular, his cousins had started a tradition of having breakfast gatherings on Christmas morning and to this day he continued the fellowship in his home with family and friends.

He married the love of his life Jocelyn Marie Brown, December 10, 1983. Together it was their joy to rear six children: David, Clarence, Tarence, Johnathan, Jennifer and Mark, Jr., and to know the blessings and joy that came with four grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Billie Grace Taylor, aunts; Dorothy Williams, Frances Bunton and Lillie Thomas, uncles; Chester Goodman, Jr., Ben Goodman and Thomas Goodman.

He leaves to cherish his life and legacy, his loving and devoted wife; Jocelyn Taylor, six children; David K., Clarence H., Jr. (Stacy) of Katy, TX, Tarence E, Johnathan L. of Atlanta, GA, Jennifer M., and Mark D. Jr., father; Ira Taylor, Sr., six siblings; Gerald Sr. (Devra), Harriet Quander, Robert Sr., Shelia Sylvain (Morris), Alan Sr., and Ira Jr., two aunts; Alberta Spence and Margaret Vaden of Seattle, WA, four grandchildren; JaNae, Jaylin, Justin and Ymani, father-in-law; Thomas L. Brown, two brothers-in-law; Thomas E. Brown (Alice) and Kenneth L. Brown, special friend Brian Mays and a host of relatives and friends. The memories of “Chuney” will always be dear to our hearts.
