John Allen Wheeler, Sr. was born on May 15, 1939 to Sam Earl Wheeler and Helen Corine Isaac in Taylor, Texas. He was the middle of three sons. John graduated from Hopewell Colored High School in Round Rock, Texas. On July 28, 1961 he married Betty Alexander and from this union one son was born, John Wheeler, Jr.

John and Betty dedicated their lives to Jehovah God, and symbolized their dedication by water baptism on July 28, 1962 on their one-year anniversary. John was known for his love of declaring the good news of God's Kingdom and helping others learn Bible truths. He engaged in the ministry on a full-time basis for over 30 years. He and Betty assisted many to obtain accurate knowledge of Jehovah and his son Jesus Christ. Sadly, after 43 years of marriage, he lost Betty in death.

John married Ethrose Perkins on November 30, 2005. They enjoyed almost 12 years together, and during that time he developed a love of traveling and seeing Jehovah's beautiful creations around the world. The beautiful floral Butchart Gardens in Canada made John reflect upon what life on a paradise earth would look like. His comment was, "This must be like the Garden of Eden without the fruit". The promise from Jehovah God to resurrect many to life on a paradise earth was a reality to John. He loved taking care of the family dog (Mr. Sir Wheel), fishing, spending time with family, and helping others.

He was preceded in death by Betty Wheeler, his parents, Sam Earl and Helen Wheeler; his brothers, Sam and Chester Wheeler.

Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Ethrose; son, John Wheeler, Jr. and daughter-in-law Beverly; grandson, Bryce; sister-in-law, Georgia Wheeler; niece, Regina K. Wheeler; nephew, Malcolm Wheeler (Barbara), and a host of family members and spiritual brothers and sisters who loved him dearly.
