George Ann Orcutt, 85, Kansas City, Kansas died Sunday, March 9, 2014 at Shawnee Mission Medical Center.
She was born October 17, 1928 to Clyde Jennings and Alta Belva Marie (Swinehart) Mansker in Kansas City, Kansas.
She married James Kenneth Orcutt on August 30, 1947. While raising three children, George Ann was a bit of a trailblazer working for the Social Security Administration from 1964-1988. Upon retiring, she focused on spending time with her family, her love of reading and needle work, and traveling with her husband and grandkids.
George Ann is survived by her husband, and children, Steven K. Orcutt, New Braunfels, Texas, Robin A. Ludwig (Andrew), Kansas City, Kansas and Mark J. Orcutt (Beverly), Bentonville, Arkansas; and five grandchildren, Ryan and Maren Ludwig, and Jason, Jeffrey and Ashley Orcutt.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Tuesday, March 18, 2014 from 2:00 P.M. to 5:00 P.M. at the Sylvester Powell Community Center, 6200 Martway St. Mission, Kansas. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Literacy Kansas City, literacyKC.org/donate or 211 W. Armour Blvd., Third Floor, Kansas City, Missouri 64111 to commemorate George Ann's love of reading. Care provided by Meierhoffer Funeral Home & Crematory.
