Kveta Hanson, age 76 of Stanton, died Tuesday September 22, 2015 at Faith Regional Health Services in Norfolk, Nebraska.

Kveta Lois Brentner Hanson was born in Dubuque, IA, on Dec 30 of 1938, the oldest daughter of Otilla (Tillie) Vavricek Brentner and John Brentner. Kveta grew up and attended school in Troy Mills, IA, and graduated from high school there in 1956. She received a Bachelor of Arts from Coe College in Cedar Rapids, IA in 1959 and a Master's Degree in Art from Boston University in 1965. She met her husband Bruce in 1973 in Iowa City, IA, where she worked as the Crafts and Recreation Director for a University of Iowa Hospitals research ward. Bruce and Kveta married on June 25th of 1976 in Independence, Iowa. After time spent working together in the Peace Corps to encourage hygiene and water safety in the Ivory Coast they eventually settled in Norfolk, NE, later moving to Stanton, NE with their daughter, Myra (born in 1980). Kveta worked as a teacher's aide at Stanton County Nebraska Rural School District #13, then taught engaging reading classes for challenged students at Christ Lutheran School, Norfolk, NE. During and after working to obtain a Master's Degree in Education from Concordia University in Seward, NE in 2005, she began tutoring individual students and teaching GED classes. This was one of her greatest joys and remained one of her most valued contributions.

Kveta had tremendous creativity and a great talent in expressing it. Earlier in her adult life, she expressed her creativity primarily through painting and drawing, and her enjoyment of music. Through time, she gained an even greater passion as she developed her talent for teaching both children and adults; she demonstrated a deep commitment to understanding her students as individuals and teaching in a way which would best support both their goals and innate aptitudes. Kveta's faith was vital to her, and she was especially uplifted by her spiritual family at Faith Lutheran Church in Stanton, NE. Kveta also participated in the 9-12 Project in Norfolk, NE.

Kveta is survived by her husband, Bruce V. Hanson of Stanton, NE; daughter and son-in-law, Myra and Bill Knapp and their children Oliver and McCormick of Linden, IA; brother and sister-in-law Steve and Haroldine (Hal) Brentner of Rowley, IA; sister and brother-in-law Vera and Ernie Zaugg of Cedar Rapids, IA; brother and sister-in-law Rudy and Lan Brentner of Indianapolis, IN; and sister and brother-in-law Willa and Dennis Meineke of Jamaica, IA.

Kveta was preceded in death by her mother, Tillie; her father, John; infant brother Timothy and granddaughter Bella, both stillborn.
