Arthur W. Olson, age 84 of Randolph, died Saturday April 5, 2014 at Heritage of Bel Air Nursing Home in Norfolk. He was born May 11, 1929 on a farm near Carroll, Nebraska the son of Lars and Esther (Lefden) Olson. He attended Wayne County Districts #22, #52, #54 near Carroll. He began farming south of Sholes area.
Art was united in marriage to Mary Elizabeth Brummer on September 8, 1951 at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Carroll, NE. The couple farmed south of Sholes until Art was drafted into the United States Army and was honorably discharged. He returned to farming in 1956, the couple moved to Randolph in July 2001, and he retired from farming in April 2007. He was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Randolph; former member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Carroll; Member of American Legion Post #113 of Randolph. Art's was an avid reader, interested in history, military and war, he was very patriotic; he enjoyed playing cards and checkers with his kids.
Survivors include Art's 3 Children Pamela and Walter Sell of Lincoln; Mary Jo and Chuck Urbanec of Thurston, NE; Danny and Lori Olson of Norfolk; 1 daughter-in-law Lori Olson of Randolph; 12 Grandchildren; 8 Great Grandchildren; 1 Sister Mary Ann and Gurney Lorenz of Randolph.
Arthur was preceded in death by her parents, wife Mary in 2007; 1 son Vernon in 2002; 1 Brother Robert Olson; 3 Sisters Thelma Johnson; Betty Hartung; June Olson.
