Edwin A. Kessler, age 90 of Randolph, died Thursday December 5, 2013 at Colonial Manor of Randolph. He was born July 11, 1923 at Randolph the son of Joseph and Mary (Thelen) Kessler. He attended school in Randolph and graduated from in 1941. He joined the United States Army in 1946 and was stationed at stationed at Ft. Leavenworth, KS, Ft. Bliss, TX and Omaha, NE.

On January 31, 1947 he married Rosella Kavanaugh of Dixon. The family farmed southwest of Laurel and in 1951 moved to farm northeast of Randolph. Ed spent the rest of his life in Randolph, close to family and friends. In 1962 Ed moved into Randolph and purchased
K & W Grain Company in Randolph with life time friend David Winkelbauer. Ed later became co-owner of P & M Motors and opened Kessler Auto Supply in Randolph. Ed retired in 1985 but continued to enjoy his cattle and farming. Ed enjoyed golfing, bowling, watching the Nebraska Cornhuskers and Hunting. He served on the Randolph City Council and was a member of St. Frances Catholic Church and Randolph Community Club. Ed married Edna Rogers in 1982 and she died in November of 1982. Ed married Rita Biernbaum Gubbels in 1983.

Ed is survived by his wife Rita Kessler of Randolph; 1 son Larry Kessler and Sis Rohde of Randolph; 2 Daughters Doris and Mick Samuelson of South Sioux City, NE; Marie and Mike Abbato of Westminister, CO; 2 Stepstons Arlen and Kathy Biernbaum of Belden; Mark Biernbaum of Kansas City, MO; 4 Step Daughters LaDonna and Earl Leiting of Randolph; Arlis and Mike Wattier of Omaha; Jana and Dave Wrick of Seward, NE; Sharon Peterson of Colorado Springs, CO; 2 Sisters Lexie Heger of Randolph; Marilyn Eickhoff of Chino Hills, CA; 1 Brother-In-Law Lavern and Rosemary Kavanaugh of Lincoln; 2 Sisters-In-Law Rose Kavanaugh of Randolph and Jeannie Kavanaugh of Dixon, NE; numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Mary; his only brother Alvin; 3 sisters Ilene, Dorothy and Marjorie; spouses Rosella in 1981 and Edna in 1982; Stepson Galen Biernbaum and Keith Biernbaum.
