Diedre Anne "DeeDee" Stensrud, 57, of Houghton Lake Heights passed away on Thursday March 28, 2013 at her home.
DeeDee was born on November 13, 1955 in Grayling, Michigan to Edgar and Phyllis (Newell) Stensrud. She spent all of her life in the Houghton Lake area and graduated from Houghton Lake Community Schools in 1973. DeeDee worked as a cashier for Habitat for Humanity Restore, and had worked at several local gas stations. She was a member of St. John Lutheran Church and an active member of the Alano Club, 2410 N. Markey Road, Houghton Lake. She enjoyed reading, cooking, photography, and her pets. DeeDee had a special enjoyment and love for her grandchildren.
Surviving Ms. Stensrud are her daughter - Angela Howey of Royal Oak; son - Stephen Howey III of Houghton Lake; three grandchildren - Maya, Jacob, and Isaac; sister - Denise (Paul) Reda of Roscommon; brother - David (Linda) Stensrud of Houghton Lake; and several nieces and nephews. DeeDee was preceded in death by her parents, and her brother Eric Gerald Stensrud.
Memorial services for Diedre Anne Stensrud will be conducted at 5:00PM Friday April 5, 2013 from St. John Lutheran Church with Rev. William Winter officiating. Interment will be in Roscommon Twp. Cemetery. Memorial Contribution in memory of Diedre are asked to be directed to the family. Christler Funeral Home, Houghton Lake Chapel is serving the family.
