Dora Goldsmith, age 91, of Manchester, formerly of New York City, died June 6, 2009 at Courville at Manchester surrounded by her loving family.
Mrs. Goldsmith was born on October 23, 1917 in New York City; the daughter of the late Harry and Leah (Greenberg) Freindlich. She was educated in New York and after graduating from high school she became a seamstress. During World War II she worked in a bomber fuselage plant as a riveter. She was married to Barnet Goldsmith on May 23, 1943 in NY. She later became an office manager at the American Kennel Club in NY, helping keep its members informed in the communications department. Mrs. Goldsmith was a gifted artist and created wonderful works in several medias including oil, needlework, and crafts. She was active in local politics in New York until moving to Manchester in 1999. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt to many nephews and nieces. She was a friend to many and she will greatly missed.
She was preceded in death by her husband Barnet Goldsmith in 1985 and three brothers.
Mrs. Goldsmiths family includes, three children; a son, Michael Goldsmith and his wife Judith of Bedford, NH; two daughters, Lauren Frank of Manchester, Fran Goldsmith of New York City; two grandchildren, Abigail Goldsmith of Austin TX, Jennifer Goldsmith of Los Angles and one brother Herman Testan of Philadelphia, PA.
There will be no calling hours. Services and burial will be held in the Star of David Cemetery, North Lauderdale, FL on Tuesday June 9, 2009.
