Her first home was in East Haddam, CT where she was active in church affairs, the local correspondent for the "Hartford Courant" and the Vice Chairman of the Republican Town Committee. She is credited with writing the first story on the restoration of the Historic Goodspeed Opera House, as well as, a feature on "East Haddam's African Prince -Venture Smith" – a slave who became a successful citizen of the town. She served on the Board of Directors of the Elliot Hospital Associates and the New Hampshire Hospital Association Auxiliaries and was a member of OWL (Office of Women Legislators). She also found time to pursue her love of buying and selling antiques at a variety of group shops as well as taking courses at UNH in Manchester and was active in scouting and the West Point Parents Club. Lee Anne served as Special Projects Coordinator for the NH Republican State Committee from 1986-1997, organizing state events and political functions.
She enjoyed her children and grandchildren as well as her trips to England, Alaska, Canada, and across the rest of the United States as well as throughout New England. She also loved gardening, auctions and cooking. She represented both Rhode Island and New Hampshire in the Delmarva National Chicken Cooking Contest on several occasions, winning fourth place in the Outdoor Barbecue Division in 1967.
