Dr. John F. Maston, age 78, of Manchester, formerly of Bedford, died Saturday, May 27, 2006 at Catholic Medical Center.
Dr. Maston was born on July 14, 1927 in Pawtucket RI, the son of the late Frank and Josephine (Kiwarciak) Maston. He was raised and attended school in Rhode Island. After high school he enlisted in the Navy during WWII and served in the Army during the Korean Conflict. Dr. Maston graduated from Logan Chiropractic School in St. Louis, Missouri. He married Jean Tomedolsky in 1957 and they moved to Bedford where Dr. Maston opened his Chiropractic practice. In the early 1960’s, he was elected to the New Hampshire State Legislature where he served for several years. He was a member at Interval Country Club. He enjoyed golfing, and being near the water, especially to Florida which was his favorite vacation place. He was a very devoted husband caring for his late wife Jean through her illness.
Dr. Maston was preceded in death by his wife Jean Maston in 1998 and his parents.
He is survived by three daughters and one son; JoAnn Collupy and her husband Robert of Bedford, Jacqueline Scarpetti and her husband Ken of Manchester, Jonne Santoli of Missouri, and Jozef Maston of Naples, FL, six grandchildren, Kelly Collupy-Rice, Kevin Collupy, Joshua Santoli, Joseph Santoli, Jeno Santoli, and Isabella Scarpetti, one great grandchild Andrew Rice, and a very close friend Carol M. Van Uden.
Calling hours will be on Wednesday, May 31, 2006 from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Goodwin Funeral Home, 607 Chestnut St. The funeral liturgy will be held on Thursday June 1, 2006 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Marie Catholic Church, 378 Notre Dame Ave. The Reverend Marc R. Montminy will officiate. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Dr. Maston’s honor to Amputee Coalition of America, 900 East Hill Avenue, Suite 285
