Shirley A. Polinder, age 79, went home to her Lord and Savior on Tuesday, April 14, 2015. Shirley was born March 18, 1936 to Ray and Henrietta (Zwaansta) Tjoelker in Lynden. She graduated from Lynden Christian Schools, attended Calvin College and went on to teach for two years at Ebenezer Christian School.
On June 24, 1958, Shirley married Gerald Polinder in Lynden. She was a long time member of Second Christian Reformed Church and was an avid gardener.
Shirley is preceded in death by her husband Gerald of 50 years; parents; and sister Adrianna. She is survived by children Doug (Jan) of Michigan, Daniel of Custer, Michael (Liliana) of Lynden, Jane Polinder of Ferndale, and Kim of San Diego; 9 grandchildren; and numerous other nieces and nephews and family members. A Visitation will be from 4 to 7 pm, Monday, April 20, 2015 at Gillies Funeral Home. A 2:00 pm, memorial service will be held on Tuesday, April 21, 2015, at Second Christian Reformed Church, 710 Front St., Lynden with a private burial in Monumenta Cemetery.
