Leon Williams was born February 5, 1943 in Tifton, Georgia, son of the late Willie and Gussie Williams, Sr. He was the youngest of three children. Leon attended Friendship Baptist Church in Tifton, Georgia where he was baptized and accepted Jesus Christ as his personal savior. He was educated at Tifton County Industrial School, and later graduated from Wilson High School in 1961. At the age of 17, Leon was sent by his parents to Newark, New Jersey to live with his aunt and uncle to pursue his dream as an Auto Mechanic.

Leon was married to Carolyn Massey and they were blessed with one daughter, Jacqueline Danielle.

He worked for International Auto Brokers in Linden for 10 years, retiring in 2010. Previously, Leon was employed at 2001 Used Auto Sales in Linden, New Jersey for 20 years. He tended bar at the Omega Lounge in Roselle for many years. To know him was to love him; Leon attracted many friends socially and had a love for cars. If anyone ever wanted to find Leon, he would always be in his driveway fixing someone's car.

On Thursday, July 16, 2015, Leon Williams departed this earthly life after a brief illness.

Leon was preceded in death by his brother, Willie James Williams, Jr.

He leaves to cherish his memory, his daughter, Jacqueline Danielle Williams; 2 granddaughters: Brittney Autry and Kimora Massey; sister, Sandra Butts (Robert) of Cordele, Georgia; brother, Robert Mapp (Rebecca) of Tifton, Georgia; uncle, James Bryant (Ocielene) of Cordele, Georgia; 5 sisters-in-law: Hazel Walker, Arlene Carmichael, Helen Boyd, Faye Mclamb, and Mary Hurling; 3 god sons: Terrence Boyd, Tyrell Price, and Malachi Bacote; 2 best buddies: Clarence "Clinky" Wilson and Ebben "Bubba" Smith; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Due to human frailty, our hearts are heavy, our eyes are tear-stained and we slump into sorrow. Nevertheless, we recognize the savior's will knowing he does all things well. We also realize that death is the only channel we must go through to receive the eternal blessings that the father has in store for all of us. So in the loss of our loved one we bow in humble submission to the will of the Almighty God, the giver of every gift, the creator of all things, and the ruler of life and death. May the angels, dear Leon, lead you into paradise.
