Jarod Smith died suddenly May 29,2001 in North Andover at the age of 24yrs.Jarod was a lifelong Malden resident, and recentlty a resident of Somerville. He was a graduate of Malden Catholic High School where he was president of his graduating class. Currently a student, Jarod's completion of his studies was imminent, with his earning of Bachelor's Degrees in both Medical Sciences and Spanish. He was fluent in Spanish as a second language, and travelled to Spain during his studies at Northeastern University. He also enjoyed travel abroad to Ireland of late on personal sabatical. He enjoyed music and all professional sports. Jarod was a dedicated employee and friend at the ''Heavenly Licks'' ice cream store of Melrose. He excelled at all tasks that he was assigned or that he ventured upon himself. All men should harken to his example of manhood. He is survived by his parents Robert P & Jeanne (DeCroteau) Smith. He was the brother of Jason Smith, James Smith, Jennifer Smith, Jeanne L. Smith and Christine Coates. Uncle of Damien Smith. Grandson of Eugene DeCroteau of Melrose and the late Sarah ''Sally'' (Cloherty) DeCroteau, the late Edwin & Mary (Malone) Smith.Also survived by many Aunts, Uncles and cousins. Funeral from the Gately Funeral Home 79 W. Foster St. Melrose on Sat. June 2nd at 9AM. Funeral mass in St. Mary's Church Melrose at 10AM. Relatives and friends invited. Visiting hours Thursday 7-9 PM, Friday 2-4 & 7-9PM
