Cornelius J. Twomey, 68, of Gardner, MA, died peacefully Monday morning January 18, after a lengthy illness.
Cornelius was born in Baltimore, MD, son of the Cornelius Twomey and the late Magdelena (McCarthy) Twomey, and has lived in Gardner the last 26 years. He married his beloved wife Maureen M. (Whitnell) August, 10, 1969.
Cornelius graduated from Cardinal Gibbons High School, and earned a Masters Degree in Business Administration from Merrimack College. He proudly served his country during Vietnam with the United States Army. Cornelius worked for AIHS as a hospital administrator for many years. Cornelius enjoyed fishing, reading Tom Clancey novels, eating crabs and shrimp, and watching Jeopardy. He will be remembered as a loving and dedicated husband and father. His greatest enjoyment came from spending time with his family.
Besides his wife Maureen, Cornelius will be missed by his son; Tyler Twomey of Gardner, his daughter; Tiffany Mavronis and her husband Steve of Baltimore, MD, two grandchildren; Jack and Andrew Mavronis, and one sister; Patti Gillen and her husband Mark of Severena Park, MD, and two nephews; Bradley Gillen an his wife Hilary and their children Caroline and Jay of Virginia, an Brian Gillen of Arnold, MD.
You are invited to attend a visiting hour in the Lamoureux Fletcher and Smith Funeral Home, 105 Central St., Gardner on Monday January 25, 2016 from 11AM until 12PM. A Funeral Mass will be held in Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Church, 135 Nichols St., Gardner, beginning at 12:30PM.
