Carla J. (Eastman) Fletcher, of Winchendon, died peacefully Saturday evening October 17, 2015 in Heywood Hospital after a brief illness.
Carla was born in Springfield, VT, June 26, 1942, daughter of the late Robert E. and Rosemary (Commerford) Eastman, and has lived in Winchendon for most of her life. She married her husband Ernest P. Fletcher, Jr. "Bud", on December 18, 1965 and together they shared over 49 years of marriage.
Carla is a 1960 Graduate of Springfield High School in Vermont. She achieved her Bachelors Degree from Plymouth State College of New Hampshire. In 1964 Carla began her teaching career in the Winchendon Public School System. In addition to teaching, Carla did bookkeeping for the Thirsty Turtle Pub in Baldwinville and Eggs-Cetera in Baldwinville. She was the co-owner of Nik Rylee's Restaurant of Winchendon, and worked along side her husband for Fletcher Funeral Home of Winchendon and Lamoureux Funeral Home of Gardner.
Carla was a long time member of the United Parish of Winchendon. She served as a Deacon at the Church, as well on the Missions Committee, and as the collector for the Church. Carla was a member of the Clark Memorial YMCA of Winchendon, the former Winchendon Women's Club, and Winchendon Historical Society. She was a former Trustee of the Beals Memorial Library and was an election worker for the town of Winchendon for over 40 years. Carla was a talented quilter. She enjoyed golfing and traveling, especially to Hilton Head, SC and St. Maarten Island. Most of all Carla was a loving wife and dedicated mother and grandmother. She attended swim meets with her children for 16 years.
Carla will be missed by her husband Ernest P. Fletcher, Jr. "Bud", her daughter; Jayne C. (Fletcher) Stacy of Winchendon, her son; Ernest P. Fletcher, III "Chip" and his husband J. Shane Campbell of Baltimore, MD, two grandchildren; Second Class Petty Officer Rylee E. Stacy, United States Navy, and Nikolas R. Stacy of Winchendon, two sisters; Brenda Major of Plaistow, NH, and Andrea Incropera of South Bend, IN, and several nephews and nieces.
You are invited to attend visiting hours Thursday October 22, 2015 in Carla's Home, 15 Oak St. Winchendon, from 5-7PM. Her funeral service will be held Friday October, 23, 2015 in the United Parish Church of Winchendon, 39 Front St., Winchendon, at 2PM. Should friends desire, donations in Carla's memory may be made to the Clark Memorial YMCA, 155 Central St., Winchendon, 01475 or to the United Parish Church, 39 Front St., Winchendon, MA 01475.
