Barbara A. (Rice) Johnson, 61, of Templeton, died peacefully Wednesday February 25, 2015 in Heywood Hospital after being stricken ill.
Barbara was born in Worcester July 5, 1953, daughter of the late Raymond W. and Audrey E. (Lariviere) Rice, and has lived in Templeton most of her life.
Barbara was currently working for New Hampshire Ball Bearing as a supervisor. She was a long time member of Holy Cross Church of East Templeton. Barbara enjoyed traveling, especially trips to Myrtle Beach with her grandchildren, and trips to Old Orchard Beach. In her spare time she loved cooking and reading. Most of all Barbara enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.
Barbara will be sadly missed by her sister; Patrice "Patti" Millet of Newport, RI, her three brothers; Raymond W. Rice of Templeton, David M. Rice of Rochester, NH, and Richard P. Rice of Tracy, CA, two grandchildren; Kolby Johnson of Templeton and Kassidy Johnson of Templeton, and nieces and nephews. Barbara was predeceased by her son Eric Johnson in 2010.
Relatives and friends are planning to honor and celebrate Barbara's life by gathering for calling hours in the Lamoureux Fletcher and Smith Funeral Home, 105 Central St., Gardner, on Sunday March 1, 2015 from 2-7PM. Her funeral will be held from the funeral home Monday March 2, 2105 at 9AM. Her funeral Mass will follow in Holy Cross Church, 25 Lake Ave. East Templeton, at 10AM. Burial will be in Pine Grove Cemetery, Templeton. Should friends desire; donations in Barbara's memory may be made to Holy Family Academy, 135 Nichols St., Gardner, MA 01440 or to The Caring Place, 100 Central St., Gardner, MA 01440.
