Harry W. Palmer, 86, of gardner, formerly of Waltham, died peacefully Wednesday afternoon in Blair House of Worcester after an illness.
Harry was born in Waltham, December 30, 1926 son of the late Willard and Lillian G. (Robbins) Palmer, and has lived in Gardner the last 13 years. Harry's beloved long time companion June Rochon died in 2003.
Harry proudly served his country during WWII as a Private with the United States Army. He worked for many years with the City of Waltham before an injury forced his retirement. Harry was a long time member of the VFW of Waltham Post 2152 and the Moose Club Loge 1018 of Waltham. Harry loved horse racing, dog racing, and playing scratch tickets.
Harry will be sadly missed by his daughter Shirley Allia of Winchendon, three grandchildren; Angela LeBlanc of Athol, Joseph Allia of Winchendon, and Amanda Allia Winchendon, and two great grandchildren; Melissa LeBlanc and Andrew LeBlanc.
Relatives and friends are planning to honor and celebrate harry's life by gathering for a calling hour in the Fletcher-Hebert Funeral Home, 70 Pleasant St., Winchendon, MA on Tuesday September 3, 2013 from 10-11AM. His funeral service will be held in the funeral home following the calling hour beginning at 11AM. Burial will be in Mount Feake Cemetery, Waltham at 1:30PM.
