Jeffrey Bernard Nesmith, 54, of Waterbury, beloved husband of Karen (Jenkins) Nesmith, died suddenly on Tuesday, November 18th at Middlesex Hospital. Born in Middletown, he was the son of the late Henry and Alberta (Hicks) Nesmith.

Jeffrey lived in Meriden before moving to Waterbury three years ago. He was a very active member of Cross Street AME Zion Church where he belonged to the churches Steward Board, Security Ministry, Culinary Ministry and Youth Ministry. He co-owned and operated Cutting Edge Bails Bond and worked as a security guard for Connecticut Yankee Power Plant for eighteen years. In his spare time, Jeffrey loved to fish.

Along with his wife, he is survived by three daughters, Kayron Nesmith and Shana Nesmith both of Columbia, SC and Quianna Nesmith of Cromwell; two stepsons, Elixon Lopez and Anthony Lopez, Sr., both of Middletown; two sisters, Renee Nesmith of Meriden and Debra Nesmith of Middletown; and four grandchildren, Mercy Lopez, Aliviana Lopez, Anthony Lopez, Jr. and Amilio Lopez.

In addition to his parents, Jeffrey was predeceased by his brother, Timothy Nesmith.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, November 24th at 11:00 am at Cross Street AME Zion Church with the Rev. Moses L. Harvill officiating. Burial will be at the convenience of the family.

Family and friends may call on Monday morning from 10:00 to 11:00 am at the church. In lieu of flowers, donations in Jeffrey's memory may be made to Cross Street AME Zion Church Building Fund, 440 West Street, Middletown, CT 06457.
