Catherine M. (Conroy) Loza, 92 of Cromwell, beloved wife of Emil F. Loza for sixty-four years, passed away peacefully on February 17, 2014 after a short illness. Born on June 3, 1921 in Middletown, she was the daughter of the late James and Catherine (Flynn) Conroy, the 10th of 12 children.
Catherine retired from the Cromwell Board of Education in 1984 after 18 years of service. She was a long time member of the Saint Elizabeth Seton Church in Rocky Hill. She loved to travel to Florida and was a devoted sports fan to her Boston Red Sox and UCONN Huskies, especially the women's basketball team. Catherine will be missed dearly by her family and friends.
Catherine is survived by three sons, Richard Loza, David Loza, and his wife, Merle, both of Cromwell and Donald Loza and his wife, Lisa of North Branford and her brother, Francis Conroy of Middletown. She was the proud grandmother of Michael, Richard, Jr. and Joshua of Cromwell and Alison of North Branford.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, February 20th at 9:30am from the Cromwell Funeral Home, 506 Main Street, Cromwell followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30am at Saint Elizabeth Seton Church, 280 Brook Street, Rocky Hill. Burial will follow in the State Veterans' Cemetery in Middletown.
Visiting hours will be held on Wednesday evening from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Cromwell Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, friends may make donations in Catherine's memory to Saint Elizabeth Seton Church Building Fund, 280 Brook Street, Rocky Hill, CT 06067.
