Donny Ray Hughes, 62, went home to be with The Lord Sunday, April 12, 2015. He was born November 23, 1952 in Tuscaloosa, Alabama to Floyd Talmadge Hughes and Della Raye Rogers Hughes. He was a member of Holt Baptist Church, Tuscaloosa, Alabama. He was a graduate of Shelton State Technical College, Machinist and C'N'C' Programmer. Also completed a four federally approved apprenticeship in the Trade of Machinist. Donny was self-employed and operated his own business in the Houston area for 30 years.
Donny was a champion archer and he enjoyed teaching and sharing his hobby with others. He was a member of Buffalo Field Archery Club, Houston TX. He was a Life member of National Field Archery Association and a Life member of A.S.A 3-D Archery Association. He was on staff with West Houston Archery Lessons Range and Teaching Center as well as West Houston Archery.
Survivors include his wife of 36 years, Pat Hughes, 2 Sons, Morgan Donny Hughes and Patrick Ray Hughes and wife Charly, 1 brother, Floyd Wesley "Butch" Hughes, 2 sisters, Sara Hart and husband Jerry and Betty Dickey, mother-in-law, Sophie Stasney, 6 brother-in-laws, Frank Stasney and wife Nancy, Kenneth Stasney and wife Janet, Bob Stasney and wife Jake, Ronnie Stasney and wife Nancy, George Stasney and wife Debra and Douglas Stasney, 3 sister-in-laws, Shirley Sykora and husband Larry, Kathy Howard and husband John David, Lynette Kovarcik and husband John and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, April 16, 2015 at 10:00 A.M in the Chapel at Davis-Greenlawn Funeral Home with Pastor John Christian and Pastor Jeff Klutz officiating. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Memorial Park. Visitation will be Wednesday evening, April 15, 2015 from 5-8 P.M. in the Chapel at Davis Greenlawn Funeral Home with a Rosary at 7 P.M.
