Gloria (Sandelli) Hanan, 83, of New Britain, passed away Thursday (January 21, 2016) at Hartford Hospital. A native and New Britain resident most of her life, Gloria is a graduate of New Britain High School, Class of 1951 and was employed as a Florist at Sandelli Greenhouses for 40 years, retiring in 1997. She was a former member of St. Ann's Church and then St. Joseph's Church in New Britain. Gloria was the last surviving member of the Sandelli family of her generation.
Surviving are two sons, Patrick Hanan and his wife Sue of Plainville; and Thomas Hanan and his wife Tracy Bannister of New Britain; four grandchildren, Christina Brittany Hanan, Samantha Lentini, Patrick Lentini and Jason Lentini; two daughters in law, Wendy Lentini of Newington and Lisa Murr O'Brien of Plainville; many nieces and nephews; as well as her lifelong friend Bernice "Pudgie" Perzan of Kensington. Besides her parents, Adolfo and Enrichetta Sandelli, she was predeceased by a son, Leo Hanan III and three brothers and three sisters.
Calling hours are Monday 4 to 7 PM at Carlson Funeral Home, 45 Franklin Square, New Britain. Funeral Services are Tuesday morning 9 AM at Carlson Funeral Home, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 AM at St. Joseph's Church, 195 South Main Street, New Britain. Burial will be in St. Mary Cemetery. Gloria's family wishes to express sincere thanks to both the staff's at Autumn Lake Health Care and Hartford Hospital for there exceptional care.
