Emily (Clebowicz) Piehl, 90, formerly of New Britain, widow of George W. Piehl, passed away Tuesday (January 8, 2013) in Bedford, New Hampshire. A longtime New Britain resident, daughter of the late Anthony and Mary (Burra) Clebowicz, she was a 1941 graduate of New Britain High School. Emily worked at New Britain Machine Company in the Hand Tools Division which later became Litton Industries for 20 years, retiring in 1984. She was a member of the Music Club of New Britain. Surviving is a son George F. Piehl and his wife Jeannemarie Thorpe of Manchester, New Hampshire; a brother-in-law, Robert Peterson of New Britain; two grandchildren, Sheryl Tocionis and Robert Tocionis; two great grandsons, Evan and Nathan Tocionis; two nephews, Brian Clebowicz and Wally Clebowicz and a niece, Diane Cogswell. Besides her husband George, Emily was predeceased by a daughter, Betty Nadeau; two brothers, Martin Clebowicz and Alexander Clebowicz; and a sister Elizabeth Peterson. Funeral services are Tuesday 10 AM at Carlson Funeral Home, 45 Franklin Square, New Britain. Burial will follow in St. Mary Cemetery. Calling hours are Monday 5 to 7 PM at Carlson Funeral Home.
