Betty Jean Palmer, age 89 of Middletown, Ohio, passed away Monday, April 27, 2015 at Otterbein Skilled Nursing & Rehab Neighborhood, Middletown. Betty was born, September 12, 1925 in Middletown and graduated from Middletown High School. Betty loved organic gardening and working in her yard. She especially enjoyed spending time with her family. Keeping her family together was the most important thing to her. She spent the last few years at Middletown Otterbein. She loved all of her housemates, aides and nurses there and considered them her extended family. Her husband, William H. Palmer precedes Betty in death, along with her father, Earl R. Thompson, her mother, Myrtle Siddons, her infant son, Adam Christopher Palmer, brother Jack Thompson, and step brother and step sister, John Hendricks and Florence Whatley. She is survived by her three children, William David Palmer (Barbara), Carol Lee Rettich (Ron), Cindy Lynne Haley (Chris); four grandchildren, Ron Rettich Jr., William David Palmer Jr. (Chip), Rhonda Lynn Bake, and Amanda Lee Johns; and a sister, Patricia Borders. Betty has four great grandchildren, Monica Palmer, Michelle Palmer, Adam Bake, and Ivy Johns. She has four great great grandchildren, Joey Wilson, Matthew and Gage Palmer, and Sorin Filipkowski; two step great grandchildren, Katie and Nick Whiting; and many nieces and nephews. Betty's funeral will be held at Breitenbach-McCoy-Leffler Funeral Home, 517 S. Sutphin Street, Middletown at 10:00 AM, Thursday with Pastor Doug Kraus of Baptist Tabernacle of Carlisle officiating. Interment will be at Woodside Cemetery, Middletown, Ohio.
