Charles R. Birkholz, age 75, of Miamisburg, died Wednesday, April 22, 2015 at Sycamore Medical Center. He was born June 18, 1939 in Islip, New York, the son of John Robert Birkholz and Sylvannia (Watkins) Birkholz. Charles graduated from Miami University with a Bachelors and Masters in Business Administration. He was employed by General Motors for 32 years, retiring at the age of 52. After retirement, he had a consulting firm with close friend Jim Villella. Jim and Charles co-authored a book together. Charles was the business manager for CCC Christian School in the Cayman Islands for one year as a missionary. He served on work camps to several other countries. Charles was a longtime, active member of Towne Boulevard First Church of God and Breiel Boulevard First Church of God where he served as the business manager for eight years. He loved hiking and backpacking, he and his friends hiked 1100 miles on the Appalachian Trail. He loved his family very much. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Dee (Downing) Birkholz; one son, Clint (Christy) Birkholz; and three grandchildren, William, Claire, and Reid Birkholz. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, William Turner. Funeral services will be 11:00 am, Monday, at the Breiel Boulevard First Church of God with Chaplain June Downing and Pastor Wes Duff officiating. Visitation will be 10:00 am until service time Monday at the church. Burial will be at Woodside Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Breiel Boulevard First Church of God, 2000 N.
