Mr. Peter Velardi, 78, of Newark, passed away on November 28, 2011. The funeral will be conducted from the Biondi Funeral Home of Nutley, 540 Franklin Avenue on Thursday, December 1, at 9:00 a.m. There will be a funeral mass celebrated at St. Lucy's Church, Newark, at 10:30 a.m. The internment will be at Holy Cross Cemetery, North Arlington. Visitation will be on Wednesday, November 30 from 4-8 P.M.
Peter was born in Newark, and was a lifelong resident. He attended Barringer High School. He was a vendor for Modern Music, Hillside, until he retired, and bartended for Frungillo Caterers. In his leisure time, Peter mostly enjoyed attending all of his grandchildren's sporting events.
Peter is predeceased by the love of his life, his wife Arlene (nee Mecca) Velardi (April 13, 2011).
Peter is survived by his beloved children Peter Velardi and his wife Patti, Pia Capozzi and her husband Eddie, and Ralph Velardi and his wife Maryann; his caring brother Louis Velardi; his precious grandchildren Peter and his wife Kristin, Jackie, Eddie, Angelica, Nicole, Ralph, Joey and Angelina; and his adored great grandson Peter.
Peter is also predeceased by his parents Pietro and Olimpia, his sisters Evelyn and Sarah, and brother Angelo Velardi.
