Beloved Wife, Mother, Grandmother and Great-Grandmother, 83
Mrs. Elizabeth (nee Lopreiato) Cugliari, 83, of Newark, passed away peacefully on Saturday, July 18, 2015 at her home surrounded by her loving family. The funeral will be conducted from the Biondi Funeral Home of Nutley, 540 Franklin Avenue on Tuesday, July 21 at 8:45 a.m. There will be a Funeral Mass celebrated at Immaculate Conception Church, Newark, at 10:00 a.m. The entombment will be at Holy Cross Chapel Mausoleum , North Arlington. Visitation will be on Monday, July 20 from 4:00 – 8:00 p.m.
Mrs. Cugliari was born in Sant'Onofrio, Calabria, Italy in 1932 and immigrated to the United States as a proud American citizen in 1951with her brothers and sisters, after their father served with the American forces in World War I. She brought her Italian traditions with her to the U.S.; her Sunday dinners were an all-day event with food that could make a five star chef jealous; she jarred her own tomatoes and made her own homemade Italian salami, sopressata and eggplant. She was a loving homemaker who always made all feel welcome.
She is survived by her beloved husband of 64 years, Fedele Cugliari; her devoted children Mary Jo Palma and her husband Nicholas; Anthony Cugliari and his wife Gina and Victor Cugliari and his wife Ana; her cherished grandchildren, Nicholas Palma, Jr. and his wife Anita, Valerie Palma DeLuisi and her husband Nicholas, James Palma and his wife Tammy, Anthony Cugliari, Jr. and his fiancé Danielle, Michael Cugliari and his wife Alessandra, Marina Cugliari and Marlena Cugliari; her precious great-grandchildren Monica Palma and Nicholas Palma, III; and her loving sister Catherine Cugliari. She is also the beloved sister-in-law of Gregory, Antonio and Felicia Cugliari, and Anna, Isabella and Evelyn Lopreiato.
Mrs. Cugliari is predeceased by her brothers Onofrio, John and Joe Lopreiato.
