Richard "Dick" P. Griese Computer Programmer, Businessman & Entrepreneur Beloved Husband, Father, Grandfather
Mr. Richard P Griese, 74 of Nutley, passed away suddenly, Friday September 28, 2012. The Funeral will be conducted from Biondi Funeral Home of Nutley, 540 Franklin Avenue, on Wednesday, October 3, 2012 at 9:15am.There will be a funeral mass Celebrated at St. Mary's Church , Nutley on Wednesday at 10:30am. Cremation will be held privately. Visitation will be Tuesday October 2, from 2:00-4:00pm and 7:00-9:00pm. Richard was born in 1938 in Jersey City, NJ. He became a resident of Nutley, having moved to town after marriage. A student of Dickinson High School in Jersey City, Richard went on to graduate from Fairleigh Dickinson University Rutherford Campus, with a degree in Mathematics. Went on to attend Stevens Institute of Technology Hoboken, before leaving to raise his family. A successful computer programmer, businessman and entrepreneur, "Dick," as many of his friends knew him, shared his expertise as a college professor at Montclair State University and volunteered countless hours to the town of Nutley with computer systems, programs and support. He also was a longtime member of the board of trustees for Haven Savings Bank.
Dick Griese was a man of many talents and passions, and became a prolific painter in his later years. He was an active member of the Nutley art club, and most enjoyed acrylics. He was an avid golf and tennis player, and was known for his youthfulness. But anyone who knew Richard will tell you it was his generous heart, his desire to help others and his relentless joking and sense of humor that most defined this great man.
Married to the love of his life, Maryanne (Desmond) Griese for 52 years, Richard is survived by her as well as three sons, Rich, Steve and Bill; two daughters in law, Carol and Kim; and five grandchildren, John, Luke, Michael, Liam, and Katie. He also leaves behind a sea of friends and relatives whose lives he permanently touched for the better.
