Thomas S. Skvarka, 91, passed away peacefully on January 7, 2013, with his family by his side, at Connecticut Hospice in Branford, CT.
Tom was born December 26, 1921, in Benwood, W.Va., a son to the late Andrew and Theresa (Cuzabel) Skvarka. He was a lifelong resident of Benwood, W.Va. but moved to Connecticut in 2010 to be close to his family. He was a veteran in the U.S. Navy during WWII.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Sandra Skvarka Li.
He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Ann (Paliam) Skvarka, with whom he spent many great years traveling together; one daughter, Rebecca (Calvin) Page of Guilford, Conn.; two granddaughters, Courtney (John) Talbot of Cleveland, Ohio, and Breanne (David) Castellano of West Harrison, N.Y.; and several nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received Thursday, January 10, 2013, from 6-8 p.m. at the Altmeyer Funeral Home, Benwood-McMechen Chapel, 214 Marshall Street, McMechen.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday, January 11, 2013 at 10 a.m. at St. John's Catholic Church, in Benwood, with Rev. Bekeh Utietiang as celebrant.
Interment will follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Wheeling.
