Sam Steinmetz, 90, of Kersey, Colorado, died Saturday, June 7, 2003, at his residence.
Visitation will be from 12:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. Wednesday, June 11, 2003 at Allnutt Funeral Service/Macy Chapel. A funeral service will be at 2:00 P.M., Thursday, June 12, 2003 at the Macy Chapel. Burial will be at Sunset Memorial Gardens, Greeley.
Sam was born February 11, 1913 to Conrad and Anna Margaret (Hergert) Steinmetz in Greeley, Colorado. He married Martha Bruntz in Greeley on May 7, 1937.
He attended school in Gill and Kuner. He and his wife lived on a farm northwest of Kersey and operated a dairy also. When he retired from farming in 1974 due to a disability, they remained living on the farm.
He was a member of St. Paul’s Congregational Church his entire life where he served as a deacon for over 20 years. He enjoyed gardening, and his grandchildren in his retirement years.
His wife, Martha Steinmetz of Kersey, CO; daughters, Eileen and her husband Harvey Bruce of Santee, CA, Irene and her husband Jess Bond of Kersey, CO and Kathleen and her husband Dean Thomas of Kersey, CO; seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren survive him.
His parents, brother, Daniel and sister, Esther Thoutt preceded him in death.
