Funeral services for James R. Lee, Sr. 70, of Wills Point, are scheduled for 11:00 a.m. Friday, December 13, 2013, at the Wills Point Church of Christ with Rev. Ken Hackney officiating. Interment will follow at White Rose Cemetery in Wills Point under the direction of Allan Fuller Funeral Home in Wills Point.
He passed away early Tuesday morning, December 10, 2013 in Rowlett.
James was born August 17, 1943, in Dallas, Texas, the son of Clarence James Lee and Frances Helen Epperson Lee. He was raised in Dallas near Oak Cliff. James was a veteran of the United States Army. On September 2, 1962, he married Effie Jean Griffin in Columbus, Georgia. He had been employed by Dubois Chemical Company in Dallas for several years, Dallas Sheriff's Office for ten years and retired from the Wills Point Police Department on February 29, 2008, after serving thirteen years. He enjoyed fishing, golfing, cooking and riding his motorcycle. Jim lived in Elmo prior to moving to Wills Point thirty years ago. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge and Chapel of the Lake at Lake Tawakoni.
Preceded in death by his parents; two sons, Christopher Shawn Lee on December 20, 1974 and James Robert Lee on February 2, 2005; daughter, Patricia Ann Oferosky on September 3, 2006; sister, Gloria Ann Vaughan and a son-in-law, Vernon Oferosky, Jr. on December 28, 2010.
James is survived by his wife, Jean Lee, of Wills Point; daughter, Jenny Burchfield & husband, Frank, of Elmo; sister, Rosetta Shuck, of Mesquite; twelve grandchildren, Jennifer Lee, Jessica Myers, Teresa Wiley, Brandi Oferosky, Nathan Burchfield, Robert Oferosky, Christina Oferosky, Alicia Foster, Christopher Lee, Mary Lee, Desiree Lee and Austin Andrews; numerous great-grandchildren and other relatives and friends.
Police officers will serve as pallbearers.
Family will receive friends at the funeral home Thursday evening from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m.
