Funeral services for Calvin Gaston, 84, of Wills Point, are scheduled for 2:00 p.m. Friday, May 11, 2012, at Allan Fuller Funeral Home Chapel in Wills Point with Rev. Robert Brown and Rev. Leonard Brown officiating. Interment will follow at Ellis Chapel Cemetery north of Wills Point.
He passed away Monday evening, May 7, 2012, in Tyler.
Calvin was born June 6, 1927, in Wills Point, Texas, the son of Robert Lee Gaston and Emerline Elizabeth Woods Gaston. He was raised in the Wills Point and Edgewood areas. Calvin graduated from Emory High School. He was a veteran of the United States Air Force, having served during World War II. On August 14, 1947, he married Lorine Vaughan in Emory. He was employed by Sunshine Biscuit Company in Dallas for nine years and was an inspector for Rockwell International in Richardson for thirty years, retiring in December 1983. He enjoyed gardening and riding his tractor. He lived in Dallas for forty-eight years prior to moving to Wills Point in 1995. He was a union member of AFL-CIO. He was of the Baptist faith.
He was preceded in death by his parents; five brothers, Virgle Lee Gaston, Nealy William Gaston, Robert Gaston, Thurman Gaston and Anell Gaston; three sisters, Floyie Ella Gaston Heart, Estelle Gaston and Mary Elizabeth Hodge Demdon and a son, Calvin Douglas Gaston.
Calvin is survived by his wife, Lorine Gaston, of Wills Point; two sons, Larry Gaston, of Wills Point and Travis Gaston, of Wills Point; four daughters, Judy Crawford & husband, Rick, of Desoto, Carol Paradis & husband, Richard, of Florida, Barbara Olsen & husband, Gene, of Garland and Melinda Gaston, of Lubbock; three grandchildren, Lisa Harp, Rick Crawford, Jr. and Michelle Perez; eleven great-grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren.
Family will receive friends at the funeral home Thursday evening from 6:00-8:00 p.m.
